    Book details

In this entertaining and fact-filled big history book, Lars Tvede, bestselling author and serial entrepreneur, examines why so many societies through history have seen their creativity bloom for a few centuries or less, after which it often faded rapidly or stopped almost entirely. To explain this puzzle, Tvede provides a unique description of the basic criteria for spontaneous creativity in any system and goes on to show how these criteria at times have been met in some countries but not others. In the last sections of the book he explains why some modern societies now have become essentially static and what can be done about it.

An engaging and highly readable synthesis of history, science and social science that places itself on par with the greatest interdisciplinary writing of recent years. If you enjoyed Steven Pinker s The Better Angels of Our Nature, Niall Ferguson s Civilization, Fukuyama s The Origins of Political Order or Matt Ridley s The Rational Optimist, then this book is for you. --Ryan Smith, senior book editor at the Centre for Political StudieThe creative Society is a book that the reader cannot put down until you have reached the last page. It is simply exciting and fascinating. --Berlingske TidendeLars Tvede`s The Creative Society is a superb analysis of why different civilizations have lost momentum (...) Without a doubt one of the most important contributions to the public debate over the last decade. Read it and understand how we can create a prosperous future. --Brian Mikkelsen, chairman of the Danish political party The Conservatives

One should think writing a book about western civilisation for readers who thought they knew well history would be boring but from the start Lars Tvede wants to praise the western civilization achievement without making them seem like the only civilised people in the world. He explains about creativity as a driver of civilization and progress creating opportunities and overcoming enemies like no other force. This important and fascinating book explains why decay is normal and give us clear ideas on what to do to avoid the crises our society is facing today. This book is a must read for everybody who want a better society today.

This is one of the most fascinating and inspiring investment books of all times. Lars Tvede gives an interesting and unique perspective of creativity and effects on a society and civilization, growth and strength, and he provides an excellent discussion of how particular rules and bureaucracy can hinder growth. Many of his views are relevant for everyone. Companies, start-ups, goverments - even families.Lars Tvede has written a well-disposed and well formulated instructive, wise and intelligent book that should be included as solid curriculum in all schools because it gives so much good basic knowledge and understanding.Lars Tvede write in a simple language with good and funny examples that in a nice way promotes his views and helps to make very good sense.
